Fujitsu to transfer its HDD business to Toshiba

IT and communication solutions giants Fujitsu have revealed details of a deal that will result in high technology experts Toshiba attaining control of Fujitsu’s hard drive business arm.

Fujitsu intend to act quickly in transferring the business to Toshiba and hope to wrap up the deal early this year. Toshiba expect the deal to assist them in raising its overall hard drive market share to over 20% by 2015. As part of the agreement Toshiba will also benefit from Fujitsu’s HDD development, sales teams and manufacturing facilities.

“Toshiba aims to build its position in the enterprise market to meet expected growth in demand for data storage systems” explained a Toshiba spokesman.
